Project design of a multifunctional public building with a multi-level parking

  • Author: Yaroslav Karashetskyy,Tetiana Drovaliuk
  • Location: Lviv
  • Project: 2015

The building under design was planned to be a public island with open spaces for recreation and communication, with public catering places, and co-working. On the other hand, it was supposed to place a large parking lot for cars taking up a major part of the facility. Visual vicinity of the two facilities is not very fortunate as it contradicts the very idea of public spaces focusing on people, not on cars. Consequently, we developed a concept as a main idea for the project to visually distinguish the open public space from the parking facility. As a result, the building was divided into two functional spaces: a parking and a commercial public area. The latter one separates the public space of an outside pedestrian area from a multilevel parking facility, while visually hiding it from the passers-by.
